Meet Joey: Athlete of the Month

Joey | 5 & a half years old | Baseball

Joey is A4K’s rising star in baseball. At just 5 & a half years old, he has already been playing baseball for over 2 years! His favourite things about baseball is learning how to hit balls with the bat and running to all the bases. Right now, he’s learning how to pitch and he can’t wait to become a stronger pitcher with more practice and training from his coaches.

Lisa, Joey’s mom, is just as big of a fan of baseball— especially seeing Joey’s giant smile when he hits the ball and gets a home run. However, this wouldn’t have been possible if Lisa didn’t find Athletics4Kids’ Sport4Life grant program in a mom’s Facebook group. Burdened by the cost of living in Victoria and the rising costs of sports programming all across the province, Lisa immediately reached out and connected with A4K to make sure Joey could keep playing his favourite sport this past spring season.
